2011 Invasive Rat Removal Expedition a Success!

Mission to eradicate introduced pests that prey on native birds is complete on 4 of the 8 islands in the Phoenix Islands Protected Area. 

For millennia, the remote, uninhabited Phoenix Islands in the central Pacific had been ideal location for ground-nesting seabirds, but the arrival of people also meant the arrival of rats, which easily preyed on eggs and chicks.
